Beleive it or not your engine will run too cold and wont burn the fuel correctly.


The engine needs to run at a consistant operating temperature in order to operate correctly.

Sure you can run without it. BUT!!!!! The end of the engine with the sender will show cold, and the other end of the engine will probably be overheating. Since there is no thermostat there to control the flow.
Full flow (as in no thermostat) is not the way to cool an engine properly or for long life.

thanks for the info still trying to figure out why when i put in the thermostat the hose from the water pump blows off due to pressure with a new thermostat 1994 omc 135 3.0l

Your motor will run lean and will (bog) when accelerating.
