Installed a new impeller in this engine last fall, but it was so late in the season, I didn't get a chance to drop the boat into a lake, but I did manage to submerge the LU into a livestock water trough to at least idle the engine. I was a little concerned with the poor flow from the tell-tale - almost more steam and dribble as opposed to a steady flow. Was defifitely better with the old impeller, that was only changed as preventative maintenance. The pump housing looked reasonable, however it does not have provision for a driveshaft seal, so I can imagine there is a pretty good escape path for water right there.
At any rate, I pulled the thermostat housing to find no thermostat. I robbed a thermostat from a 1059BD, but the thermostat overall length is too great to allow the cover to be installed. On the installed engine, the thermostat is in a vertical orientation, whereas it is in a longitudinal orientation on the 1059BD. i-boats lists two different Mallory p/n's; 9-43024 & 9-43022. Is anyone ouy there able to steer me in the right direction?
Thank you all in advance.
