I replaced my engine with an ATK rebuilt and a new SEI106 Lower unit.
I have new risers, manifolds, circ pump, and new thermostat with T valve and check balls.
Started the boat and temperature went to 200, verified this on hose and in the lake. I pulled the thermostat 140 degree, and ran the engine, and it ran 150. Raw water cooling system.
I was using the closed gasket, and also tried the open gasket. Same results. I pulled one of the hoses to the exhaust manifold and it had steam no water.
I used AI to walk me thru and it is telling me the brass insert is what is causing my issue. It says the brass insert needs to be lip up. I had it lip down, holding the thermostat. Every picture I have seen shows it like this.
Can someone answer this question definitely on the correct orientation of the brass insert. Mercruiser 305 V-8.
Gasket - thermostat- brass sleeve lip down, free flow gasket, cap.
Appreciate it.
Thanks
