Thermostat housing 16413 c

Ok so i just got this boat. Engine was not warming up. Checked gauge and sending unit. It all checked out ok. Pulled thermostat housing off and thermostat was on the manifold going into housing. I believe it is supposed to be on the top side of housing under sleeve. Does anybody have a diagram of how the thermostat goes together. The casting number on housing is 16413 c. Cannot find serial number. It's a 305 4bbl

That's it man. Really appreciate it. The thermostat was on the very bottom. It wasn't between the sleeve or anything

lol someone thought that Chevrolet was still in an Impala or Chevelle.

Lol yeah. Quick question though. Looking from the top cover. Sleeve. The thermostat is supposed to be installed with spring part down right towards engine
