Thermostat Housing Gasket

New 5.7L motor from Michigan Motorz. I installed the San Juan Full Closed Cooling Kit that I had on my previous motor.

I have pressure tested the closed cooling system to check for leaks before i fill with antifreeze. I pressurize to 15 psi and it will leak down to 14 psi in 10 minutes. Found the leak to be at the thermostat housing gasket, found it with some dish detergent, it was showing some really tiny bubbles around the thermsotat housing. The housing is flat, I sanded it flat before i installed initially, the same for the mating surface on the intake mani. Took the housing off and put on a new gasket, but added some silicone RTV this time, and the leak got smaller but still present.

What else can I do? The gasket that i am using is the one that has the grounding rivets in it, could this be preventing the gasket from compressing properly since this particular housing doesn't need the grounding rivets? Can I change gasket material, if so, to what?

Re: Thermostat Housing Gasket

after i reinspect for cracks or warpage on the t-stat housing, this afternoon i'll try Fel-Pro gasket 35062, it doesn't have the grounding rivets. if that doesn't work i'm going to cut one out of 1/8" silicone sheet that i have lying around. that should give me enough compressibility.
