Would really appreciate help here. I ordered a new thermostat for my OMC 2.3 liter 4 cyl....1988 engine. Looks like an ice cream cone with a cylider on one end and a point on the other. Question..... which end goes into the engine block? I believe that the pointy end should point OUT of the block and into the housing. Is this correct? Thanks to all for help.

Re: Thermostat replacement

The side that looks like a little cylinder faces the engine. thats where the element is that senses the water temp. the cone looking side faces out

You guys are great...Thanks for the help....I had it right, than went in and changed it around. I will have to open it up again today and get it right again. Should have paid attention when I took it out but thought it only fit one way. Thanks again for the help.
