Thermostat

I put a new impeller on my '76 Johnson 9.9, and while the lower unit was off I attached the garden hose to the copper tubing that goes into the waterpump, and still no water out the telltale hole. What next? I've poked a wire down thru ther numerous times, so I'm sure its at least partially clear. Where do I find the thermostat on this rig, and should I be looking at it as the problem of very little water out the hole?? Thank for the help

I would pull the rubber hose off at the block. And see if water comes out then. If so then rubber hose is blocked. <br /><br />If still no water, then something is stuck in water tube that comes up from pump.<br /><br />T..stat is under cover just behind head. I dont have manual that covers your motor. So Iam not totally sure as to its location. But it will be close to head.<br /><br />Good Luck!

The is no tell tale on a 76. You may get a spray out of the hole in the rear of the upper mid section and a flow as the rpms pickup.
