I ordered a 130 degree thermostat for my 1988 50hp 507Y8C Force motor. The place I ordered it from evidently was out of the 130 T-stats and they are sending a 143 degree T-stat. Is this going to be a problem? Should I return it and find a 130 somewhere else?

Personally, I'll stick with the 130 degree T-stat. The 143 will also work but it gives you very little leeway before the hi-temp buzzer goes off. Remember, the setting is the temp the T-stat will start to open and not actually fully open yet. You can test the old t-stat with a pot of water over a stove with a thermometer.

I'm going to test the old T-stat to make sure its good, just want to have a back up on hand just in case. It's kinda hard to work on your boat where I live. City only lets you park your boat in the drive way for up to 48 hours and my neighbors are quick to call em when it hits 48 hours and a minute.

Stay with the 130.
The system was designed with a 130
Jiggz has it right.
