Thermostats

on a 1976 135hp v4 evinrude, what kind of thermostats are used...like what's a part description....b/c someone said they are vernatherms?...and i am trying to locate a "thermostat" to replace the current thermostat...and im not sure what im looking for or what "part number" or description of it as it specifically relates to my 1976 135hp evinrude, v4.... thanks guys

Go to any dealer that sells OMC parts and they will/should have exactly what you need. They have microfische & can follow up part number changes. While you are at it might as well replace the water pump.<br /><br />I assume you have the OMC shop manual - - if not - - .
