So, how does one shut off these annoying pop up ads? These things are not going to make me run out and buy a Silverado or Quaker State oil. LOL

If iboats popped each of these hijacking advertisers for a million each they would find a way to get them cut off.

Re: These annoying pop ups

I checked IE just now, and that is still confusing to me, so not going to offer help with that. These are not actually "pop-ups" as that is an actual browser window from what I understand. I mention that as IE does have a "pop-up blocker, but I don't see an "adblocker". I know adblockers work easily on Firefox and Chrome as many have said. But I am going to post what I did a few weeks ago here. I still feel the same way. I leave my adblocker off, so I can see what a new member sees.

This is not a rhetorical question, nor is it sarcastic.

I have Firefox. I don't use any add or popup blockers on purpose. I want to see what our members see. I do squeeze out the side bar by leaving my Favorites open on the other side and sizing it perfectly to block that. But the top banner and the pop-ups I leave alone. Now it probably goes without saying that I browse this site a lot so to my question . . .

What is so bad? Am I missing a painful experience with other browsers?

I hit the x and it goes away. I don't even see the top banner as my eye is just used to it.
Despite me saying this was not rhetorical I never got an answer . . .

BTW, I am not suggesting that anybody, including iboats, "likes" these ads.

Love your signature, Don. Being in the sheetmetal industry and working with engineers, I've seen that one quite often. LOL :D

Quick update. iboats has been paying attention and they are turning off the pop ups (bottom up deal thing, often Chevy) after one pop for each visit. Let's see if that makes this a little more tolerable.
