I'm thinking about switching back to this spline shaft.

This pline shaft was in use when my last coupler failed.

I have a new coupler shaft, however, it is not compaitble with my center yoke socket section. (it is causing stearing knock)

This coupler shaft was originally used with the older round style coupler, now I have the newer triangular style coupler.

Here are some pics of the shaft.

This is my new shaft above, and the old shaft below.
Notice the lack of a 3rd oring on the old shaft.

And if you've got some time to kill, this is my other toy:

The splines look ok.It's usually the soft aluminum in the coupler that goes bad.
Make sure you figure out why it went bad.Usually the motor gets out of alignment.Motor mounts get weak(rotten wood) and changes position.Jerry

motor was out of alignment

I swapped motors and didn't re-align, I didn't know any better at the time.

Ayuh,....

I'd call those splines, Barely servicable.....

I can see tha about 10% has been worn away,+ they look Crooked looking down the length of the shaft...
Musta Wacked something at sometime....
Looking at the top flats of the spline, you can see where the wear ends at the begining of the coupler splines....
