There is a really cool new documentary on PBS that is airing on August 31st. It called Atchafalaya Houseboat and it is essential for anyone interesting in houseboats or boating.

The story follow a couple's journey as they built their own houseboat in the Atchafalaya Basin. They lived off the land (and water) for almost a decade.

To see more information go to http://www.lpb.org/programs/houseboat/

Be sure to see how they did it on August 31st at 10:30 pm ET on PBS

I didn't see an ad, there, just a link to a PBS show on someone who built and lived in a houseboat. I don't think that's against the rules here. Looks interesting.

I don't see anyone selling anything.

I agree. Where is the advertisement?

This a documentary on a couple that lived for decades on a home made house boot, made by the Public Broadcasting Service, with beautiful still photography by a famous photographer, for National Geographics.

Great post! Thanks for the Tip.

Every one of this guy's posts are about this show. So therefore....it's an ad.

If he didn't pay to post the info, it's not ad...just a voluntarily submitted PSA, public service announcement. If it offends, don't click on it.

It's a marketing campaign.

The poster is only on here to advertise for something.

It has nothing to do with Boat restoration forum.

The link is are pretty much mostly advertising selling products.

It's an ad.

Re: They hand built this boat in the 1970's

Hello,

I'm the original poster. I am helping Louisiana Public Broadcasting, a non-profit organization, get the word out about a very endearing and worthwhile documentary. Due to the nature of this forum I thought it might appeal to boat lovers. We seriously hope no one was offended. We also hope you tune in on August 31st at 10:30 ET on PBS ;) Thanks and have a good day.

In case no one noticed, iboats runs an ad for this program on the right side of the forums pages. So I think its OK for this to be discussed.

It is really real easy to see how iboats feels about it. Report it as spam, and it will be gone in minutes, if they see it as being such. Just click this little button ...

If it doesn't bother them. it will stay up on the board.

If not you can call what is a “public service announcement” from a “non-profit organization” about a film on boat building, and the builders lives thereafter on this boat, a “ad” all you want. It doesn't cost anyone a thing, to watch this program.

I would like to see a completely separate category, just for such televised boating related topics. I vote for more of these type post. A little culture never hurt anyone, least of all me.
