well, they said that walleyehed would have all the answers......

so heres the questions

does this prop need replaced?

can it be "reworked" by me?
and will grinding/ fileing the blades damage balance?

and i fish lakes that have primarily a very rock based lake bottom...
so would i benefit more from a ss prop or aluminum, i would think that aluminum would be better because it would tend to give more should i bottom out...... but you guys are the prop pros, so let me know what you think

heres some pics of the prop, let me know if some better pics would help with your guys advise.

No, you've done fine...
From what I see in the pics, these are easy repairs at a competent prop shop.
If you have a spare prop, fine...if not, I would recommend you buy a replacement aluminum if it's as rocky as you say, and have this one repaired and kept for your spare.
If you do choose to buy another prop, there are some great deals here on iboats, and keep the max RPM at 5500+ with a normal load. What is your wide open throttle RPM now?

Re: they told me to talk to walleyehed????

i dont know the wide open throttle, i can ask when i have the boat taken to the shop... someone suggested the hustler props sold here on iboats, and they seemed reasonably priced, so i think i might order one......

will the guys that service the boat tell me the wot rpms? or should i get the stuff to check it myself ( just remember i dont know how to do that)

all i can tell you is that the boat will do around 32-36mph(per gps) and doesnt seem to be having any problems...

let me know what you think.

thanks again for your help.

Normally, we choose a prop based on the results of either a test prop or the RPM at which the current prop will allow the engine to turn with the throttle wide open.
From there, we either make a decision to change or stay with the same pitch.
The shop won't tell you what the WOT is unless they run the boat on the lake.
