Hey all-

I am new tot he forums and just got my 1st "real" boat. I had a Jon boat for years and finally decided to upgrade to a 1983 SeaRay Seville. Do you guys know of any specific problem areas with this type of boat for me to look out for? The floor and transom appear solid, but I guess I will find out the real truth when I pull the carpet. It seems like somewhere between the factory and the day I bought it, the original carpet was pulled and replaced with what appears to be indoor carpet.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to iboats Dry Dock......

If you've check the structure as you said...transom, deck (floor) hull etc. and all seems good then of course make sure the engine is sound and running strong. Have you had it on the water for a test run? What type power does she have (brand of engine)?

You should at least walk around on the deck and check every inch with the toe test. (step down to make sure nothing moves)

I would suggest you Re-bed ( recaulk ) Everything on deck.

Snaps,Rails, cleats, port windows etc..( basically if you can unscrew it .. re-caulk it ) 3m 4000 works or 4200 depending on application.

Check your Motor mounts and stringer tabbing while your at it.

I dont care if its SR or anything else..when you get a boat you better Seal everything Proper ..

YD.
