Think I found a deal!

Hello,

Well it's time to trade in my 1950 Humber Tri Hull with a 72 50 HP Johnson. I have had this boat since I was 16 (16 years) and it still runs great but please tell me this is not a deal.

I have not seen the boat yet but my fathers co-worker wants to get rid of his 92 Bayliner with a 90 HP force. He did not tie it up properly and the hull was damaged. He paid $8,000 CDN for this boat/motor/trailer last year and the insurance gave him $5,000 to fix the hull. The hull was fixed over the winter for much less and he is asking $3,500 firm. The hull was fixed by a reputable marina and they have gauranteed the work.

Am I crazy or does this seem like a good deal... Here is a picture of the boat.

Thanks for any input.

Can't see the pix. You may want to pay for a survey to ensure that it was repaired properly...

Any idea how the engine works? I've heard that Force is no longer in business, so this would be something to consider.

Hmm... 3500 firm sounds ok - what does that convert into USA$? I don't feel like finding a calculator.. hehe.

I just paid $4090 for my 91 Capri 2050 with a 5.0 Merc V8 in it - and that was in the dead of winter. I bet I could get around $6 for mine now...

Sean

About 3200 US. We are real close money wise right now.

It does sound like a great price to me. I just paid $8600 for a 95' Capri Bowrider with merc 5.0 v8 i/o.

Re: Think I found a deal!

Thanks for the input. I brought the boat home and have a chance to try it out for a couple of days.

It's not turning over all the way but I am charging the battery. When I took the plugs out she would turn over no problem. I will let the charger sit on her over night and see what happens in the morning.

Thanks

Fuser

I would post a question about Force outboards in the Force forum. There are some definite draw backs with them so I hear.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I am from Cali and picked up a 93 1600 Capri Classic with a 70hp Force for $3600... The interior was super clean and boat was always garaged...
