I'd say that if you know your water well enough, that might be okay ... but I think the under tows are just too dangerous. When God starts flexing His muscles, why try to box with Him?

AWWWW Shucks......that's nothing!

The little sailboat I play with in the bathtub goes thru more stuff than that! When the fog (bubbles) sets in the sailboat goes missing. Then I drain my little ocean....and she ends up on the hard....waiting for another day.

So now the real truth finally comes out. You've just been pretending all along aye Captain??? :D

Yeah, I probably wouldn't try to ski or tube in those waters, but we could push through it to the next pub.

Just another weekend on LOTO. :D

I think the Captain and crew seemed to be handling the conditions very well. Don't know what every individual member of the crew was doing or how stoic everyone remained; but that ship isn't just handled by the Captain. It's a huge team endevour. From what I saw... Yeah, my hats off to 'em!!!:D

I guess the weather kept them from catching as many as they wanted.

The biggest fear a captain and crew would have is a window blowing out. Once that happens....all electronics may become inoperable.

From what I've heard about LOTO, you don't need wind to get seas like that.

Is there a nautical term for those horrific conditions?

It's all fun and games until the screws stop turning! The small vessel looked self righting? to me. But even if it did'nt go down i'm sure you'd be beaten to death in the aggitation cycle of that washing machine. Would any captain knowingly head out in those seas? Or is it a caught in the ugly thing? I cannot imagine you could make much headway, prolonging the abuse.

Pretty close, Swabbie. From Cat Island, Bahamas to Turks and Caicos. The swells were every bit as tall, just farther apart. Our 10 hr ride took a little over 24 hrs. We were traveling hehind a low front and it stalled on us. Lucky, I had a young mate that thought it was cool. I gave him the wheel and I kept one eye on the radar looking for other fools that might be out there with us.
