Pretty close, Swabbie. From Cat Island, Bahamas to Turks and Caicos. The swells were every bit as tall, just farther apart. Our 10 hr ride took a little over 24 hrs. We were traveling hehind a low front and it stalled on us. Lucky, I had a young mate that thought it was cool. I gave him the wheel and I kept one eye on the radar looking for other fools that might be out there with us.

What size vessel where you in?

As chriscraft said about engines dead in the water. We had Mathers Electronic Controls at the helm. My biggest fear was blowing out the windshield, loosing all my electronics....including steering.

Thanks, Art. The boat faired much better than me. The boat needed a good washing....I needed a Chiropractor, a Masseuse, and a rum drink. I installed Globalstar onboard after that incident, came with internet access, at $4 a minute. Was well worth it. Made decisions much easier.

I did break out a side window a couple months later...but that's another story.
