Thinking about Buying Boat with 1978 85HP motor Should I?

Ok I havent had a boat for almost 2 years last one was a 85 Alu Bass Tracker. Anyway I found a 1978 Bonito open bow with a 85ML78C motor I was told it ran and had a rebuilt carb. I dont think its been in the water at all this year. Question is can this motor be relable? are parts still out there if I wanted to get it rebuilt? If so about how much would that be? $1000ish? Boat is $2000 but thinking he will take alot less as its in need of some work. Im thinking $1300 or less. Is this something I should think about or just pass on?

do a compression test first.if thats ok the motor should be workable ,you can still get parts
