So, because I am never satisfied, combined with being fickle, not to mention my debilitating OCD, I am thinking of reworking the Skank again. Think of it as refining, more than anything.

First thing, it would no longer be a center console, but a duel console. I would remove the entire upper deck section and toss it. essentially I would be left with the bare hull from the rubrail down. A shell with floor and transom.

I would then build in the casting deck up front again and build duel consoles bass boat style. The casting deck would be dramatically larger because it would no longer be restricted by the shape of the bowrider format, and nothing would protrude above the current rubrail except for the casting seat, seats, and consoles. Out back would still be open so the boat could be used to troll for the big boys if I don't feel like bassin'.

In the end I would end up with a lower profile and the boat would weigh less. The down side is that I still like the center console format, so I am just in the planning/tossing around stages.

I think I am just bored and want a project again, and it is easier to just redo this one than to find another one. Thoughts?

If you are bored, come help mee finish mine :D

I've found that the tops add support to the hull shape and you will get a bunch of work reinforcing the hull at the rubrail. Everything is doable, though, if you have the time. You did good untill now, will give a little amusement and learing to us others - go ahead.

Some of the most delicious fishing boats I ever see are the 19 - 21' hulls build like bass boats, plenty of space and still light and towable, why not find one of them for a project boat.

Jason,I've been following your project since I joined . If you are now considering ripping all that nice work apart, seek some counseling.

Do another project. And please post pictures and commentary on your website! It wouldn't be very exciting to watch you just modify what we've already seen you do ;) . Seriously, I was fascinated by your project(s).

Re: Thinking of refining the Beast

Yeah, I know. in the end I probably won't do it, mainly because I don't have time. My wife asked me if redoing it again would help me catch more fish. I told her it would not make any diference at all as far as catching fish, so she asked why I should even bother. It was a good point. Like I said, I am fickel and have OCD. Sometimes just kicking things around for awhile is all I need to get it out of my system without actually doing it.

And yes, it is the wrong time of year to be doing it. :)
