presently it is a 20 Ft Monarch, 21 inch tubes, 2004 50 Johnson. slow boat to no where. i have 30 gallon fuel tank on stern.

remodel, move fuel tank forward under new console, designing flip back benches (3) one for helm, and to off the rail in mid stern.

beefing up motor pan, to handle a Evinrude 140.

Do you think you have enough flotation with the 21" tubes to handle the weight of the 140hp rude? Moving the fuel forward should help but I would put the boat in the water and add some weight to the rear to equal the difference between the 50 and 140 to see how it sits.

the fuel transfer forward more than takes care of the extra weight. using long shaft motor, on Jack Plate type transom, this keeps the power head high.

I'll bet that 140 will move you pretty fast.

i don't know if i will use all of it, most of the time, but will definately be able to pull a tube..

I would not place a fuel tank under the helm. There are lots of arcing switches there that would be very dangerous when mixed will fuel fumes. A little spill when filling the tank could also prove to be dangerous.

I would also check with your insurance company prior to putting a 140 on that pontoon.

Many years ago, I repowered a 24 footer with a 140. and later learned that I would not have had liability coverage if I needed it. That was Allstate about 30 years ago so things may have changed drastically, but I would still check prior to making such an investment.

if you look at many center console boat, the fuel tank is part of the center console. it will be well vented.
