Or is it? Just got a new gimble bearing and there is a grease hole in the outer ring between the metal band but there is no hole for grease to get to the bearing. Shouldnt there be a hole in the bearing that is pressed into the ring that lines up with the hole in the outer ring? Hard to explane but I think you might know what I mean.

Thanks

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... Grease fittin's have been disappearin' for Decades now,.....

The gimbal bearin' is just the latest to go "Greaseless",....

Most of the new gimbal bearin's out there are seal bearin's,...

the bearing is not pressed in. its slipped in between the slots and rotated into position. The way the grease gets into the bearing is from the zerk it goes into that hole in the tolerance ring. inside is a small groove all the way around. The small hole in the bearing rides in that groove. the grease travels around the inner groove until it finds the hole in the outer bearing race and then enters the bearing.

You can still find the ones with the hole 879194A01, but new P/N is 879194A02. The 01's can be found and are cheaper. I have the Timken bearing number and their even cheaper but have to go to a bearing place to get it.

I knew someone was going to ask that, and dang it I can't find it. I found the box the bearing is in but the label is gone. Been a long time since I needed to replace a gimbal bearing. Took the bearing out of the box and I was wrong it's not Timken it's Link Belt. Looked all over the bearing and can only find Made in USA and Link Belt. I picked up two when I needed one years ago. Took the bearing into Bearings Inc in Louisville KY, The guy took one look at it and went back in the supply room and came back with two. I'll keep looking around and when I figure it out I'll post. May need to just make another run back to the bearing shop
