It's a core plug (Ford part no doubt) measure the hole, pull the pieces of the old one out and install a new one.

Yeah, same thing, on the 460 V8, the head could be used on either side of the engine.

Holy Moly, a freaking 10$ dollar part. How often does that happen with a boat. Theres one for the record. Don, Stoney and all you folks are incredible. This tub may see the water soon after 5 years in drydock. Im ecstatic. Thank you again.

Just posting solution to my ticking. Stony was correct. It was the thermactor plug but on the front. The tissue trick would have worked because i was listening intently and found the noise louder towards the bow of the motor. I was moving my hand around the front and felt some blowing. When i got closer i found it. Stuffed a paper towel in the hole and the ticking went away. Didnt know there was one on the front. Thank all of you above. I now will have 2 good running 470's that havent seen the water for 5 years. Good compression. Running cool. You guys on here are so generous and patient with your advice. You are awesome.
