Please tell me this has happened to someone else. Took my 1966 Glastron 14' Jetflite with a 65' 90hp johnson out after 4 months of restoration. It does not have electric tilt. Everything went smooth up until I tried to back the boat off the trailer. Engine kept bouncing out of the water. Friend says to wrap a bungee cord to keep it secure. Silly me spent all day making a mental checklist on launching procedures and completely forgot about locking the engine with the clasp.<br /> Got out on the water, and after a little carb. adjustment was able to go full throttle. Hit about 20 and darn near lost control of the boat. Fishtailing like crazy, friend is yelling "power down". Tightend the steering cable best we could and tried it again. Boat still "wiggin out" as my friend put it. Never entered my mind to clamp down the engine. Decided to head back and tighten steering cables and try it another day.<br /> It was not a total waste. It was nice just to be on the water with a boat that had once looked like junk and engine did not run, to a real head turner and not one "real" problem with the engine. I owe alot of thanks to the people on this forum for the great info. whether it is answering my questions or just reading from other people's problems and experiences.
