He uses the "R" word, and the "C" word.

I was taught right from wrong at home outside of any religious context. There were consequences if I did something wrong, but above all they wanted me to do right because it was right.

I was not truly introduced to the concept doing right because of fear until I decided to look into religion on my own.

What is right? Define right for us. Today's society maybe can agree that murder is not right, but not uniformly. Who said you are right, someone who disagrees with you? Probably not. So how do you know what is right and what is wrong in todays secular progressive society? Who is the arbitor?

This may hurt even more.

"Who is the arbitor?"

It's still God.

Re: This is going to hurt a little.

We each have our own, unique, set of values. . .what is right and what is wrong. It is unlikely that there is another human on earth that agrees with us on everything.

We come by these values from a variety of influences and experiences; some religious, some from mentors, parents, peers or "heroes". Some we form for ourselves from experiences.

The sad thing is that too many of us demand respect for our values while ridiculing those of others.

Well, i could'nt have said it any better, those words of wisdom are perhaps some of the finest to have graced this forum.
Very eloquently put. :)
