This is what I've come up with for my 1979 Winner Fish & Ski Boat. It is not comprehensive. Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong anywhere because when I go at it. I will use this as my map and follow it to the letter. Does color really matter? Did I get the colors right? I go through this saying WAIM (What Am I Missing) But this is my first boat rebuild, so I could be missing a lot. Boat1.JPG I will update this thread with more pics from instagram. any advice is helpful and thank you so much.

Re: This is my electrical outline for my boat

There are several generic boat wiring diagrams in the stickies at the very top of this forum (not this page).

few mistakes like gas tank has no ground, biege has no ground, trolling realy should be a breaker not a fuse and its only a 12v?, trim seem to go to fuel gauge (trim and tilt should have its own 5 lead cable 2 are for indicator and 3 for relays). take a look as the generic ones. also think that its intresting that your live wells have power but i dont see a pump for filling them. it would take me longer to draw a good print of the wiring including color and gauge then it would take to install it. firstly start with a list of everything you have and want and how many wires each item has and where they terminate

Re: This is my electrical outline for my boat

Thanks for your input glenn, I had a lot of mistakes on there, some just silly and some serious (grounding the gas tank) with the mess I'm dealing with I do want everything straightened out and that does help. The plumbing for the live wells were confusing so I can work on that too. I think I only have one pump for the livewells now that I think of it, I'll check tomorrow and I'll make the changes to my drawing later. IDK if just one pump is unusual or not. The trim is going to be the tricky part if I'm not mistaken. gonna wait for the manual to come in the mail for that. Why should a trolling only be a breaker and not a fuse? And as far as going through wire by wire--have you looked at the boat pics? I don't know it I should take the time to find where they all go or just cut them all out and put things where I want them. for instance, I don't want need a courtesy light switch on the bow, I can just use the main switch board for everything. Does that make sense? I'm willing to do this RIGHT and I want to get this boat arranged how I want it. I just don't know what RIGHT is. but seriously glenn thanks for those pointers, I hope for more of your help and others like you.

make a list of the items and post what kind of motor you have and i will help you anyway i can. trolling motors like to get caught on weeds so tripping a breaker is just easier then replacing a fuse if its out of your budget at the moment just leave a space for it and use a fuse

Thanks Glenn, you're the kind of person I was hoping to run into. The generic diagrams are too generic for me.
Should I put a circuit breaker on the starter battery as well? running from the battery to the fuse box? (kinda like a battery on/off switch)

Evinrude 1979 100 hp 100999s Its in bad shape and I'm replacing the starter this week and working on the trim because it is stuck lowered and i can't lift it up nor can i figure out anyway to manually lift it. I have a separate thread for that in appropriate forum.

I can figure out how to wire the gauges once I know where the wire should come from, should the power come from the tilt trim junction box? The sticky says ignition switch (?) only my tach and trim sensor wires go directly from ignition (remote control) to gauges. Wednesday and Thursday I'll get a better look at where those wires go from actual ignition. I found some old thread with some diagrams for tilt n trim with remote control. I'll check them out this week too.

Also, my solenoid for my tnt doesn't look standard does it? in one of my photobucket pics (original thread) there is another solenoid right by it. IDK if the previous owner switched it or I'm losing my mind. Thanks again glenn and anyone else who has input

Re: This is my electrical outline for my boat

controller should have 2 wires to it one is a thick multi-core that has a red plug at the other end that plugs in motor. the other is a multi but not as thick that should go the tilt/trim relay controls (the picture doesnt have enoght detail to give any advise as mine is mounted on the motor your might be remote) if you need to tilt motor down theres a electrical connector from the tilt motor with 2 wires add jumper leads and touch to battery (put a fuse in the positive lead just in case motor is shot about 20 amp) one on + one on - motor should run if it runs and doesnt move reverse them and try again. (mark both ends of the trim pump wiring before you undo the connector as you seem to have lots of spare wires and you dont want to add to them)
p.s do not connect power to trim sensor thats mounted in the same area as the pump :)

Re: This is my electrical outline for my boat

Well I have realized my battery is also gone. Gotta replace it. Will do next week.
Gonna get some wire from iboats and most electrical components too. Unless my marine shop has it cheaper.
