I was perusing C-list as I usually do looking for ridiculous ads to share on the "TLC Needed" thread, when I came upon this.

Rosborough RF-246 Trawler - 2000 Model

Really pretty neat design concept if you ask me. I'm not into trawling, fishing or offshore cruising; but I can definitely see the merits of this fine vessel. Anyone else ever seen anything like this/been aboard one?

These have been around for many, many years. Been on a Ranger Tug 25SC a couple years ago.
Some others are:
Nordic Tug 26
North Pacific Yachts 28 PH
Ranger Tugs makes several models
NordStar 26
Nomad 25 (Nimble Boats)
Caledon 25
Alyward 25
Acadia 25
Devlin 26
Camano also makes a few.

My favorite is the Ranger Tugs R-27

the hull design is closer to a "deadrise" design popular and made in and for the Chesapeake Bay, although typically they have a short cabin forward and open space to the stern. Many have been converted from work to pleasure use--not too fast but you can pack a crowd to take the whole cub scout troop croaker fishing or 8 couples on a cocktail cruise. There are some real beauties for sale here: Newest

Funny they call them deadrise when they have little deadrise at the stern--but the bow typically is a straight-up design that "rises" from the sea. The work boats have powerful diesels and can haul butt as if on a plane. The work boat races and docking contests around the Bay in the summer are great to watch.

Parker, one of the best fishing boats, makes a "pilot house" which is similar, too, and based on the deadrise. Being fiberglass it is trailerable although around here boats that large stay in the water.

From the Bay south you see open design for the deadrise but the Yankee "trawler" design is typicallu more closed in, higher rake to the bow and deeper V at the entry point.

To me, the boat you found is too big for a "trailer boat" although I know there are people here who regularly trailer bigger ones for day use. So I wouldn't describe it as "trailerable."

I love those things, though I have mixed feelings about them thought. When the water is nice and calm I love my planing hull and halling @$$ over the water. When the water is rough I would love to have a displacment hull. With that said, yes you go much slower in a displacment hull but some of those like the Nordic 26 burn 2/gal an hour at cruise speed (8 knots)

I know two people that have owned those. The 246s will plane easily and are easily towed by a typical big SUV or pickup being 25' long and 8' 6" wide while displacing 5400 lbs dry (I trailer my 6000 lb 25 footer all the time with a 15 year old Durango). They are also VERY ruggedly built. The hull to deck joint is absurdly robust and they have 100% positive flotation.

My wife loves the Ranger tugs. Wish they weren't so expensive!

Nice, Should have a 70 or so hp diesle with a shaft drive, then you would see some real economy. If you like these kind of boats check out the Albin Delux 26, I have been seriously thinking about one of these for my retirement years.

I believe that it is actually an Albin Deluxe 25 (not 26). For a bigger version there is the Albin 27 Aft Cabin (sometimes called an AC, Family Cabin, or FC).

These particular boats have not been manufactured since the late 80's. However, some can be found used. A good 27 AC can be had for $20-25K. Albin boats have a pretty good reputation.

The 27 AC is kind of big to trailer, but it can be done. There is a company in Baltimore, MD that has one that can be rented/chartered if you want to try it out before deciding to by one.

Here is a link to a blog about someone who had extensive travels in a 25 Deluxe: The Adventures of Shatoosh and Pashmina: Albin 25 For Sale--Lit'l Bit-- Friday Harbor, Wa

Hmm I don't know, cabin looks awful small and I can't image the head is more than a couple inches bigger than the toilet.
Yep, the cabin is small and so is the bathroom, but no smaller than the one in my Bayliner 2452, actually a little bigger. How much room do a retired couple need. I think I would cut the roof off the aft cabin and make it into a open cockpit. What apeales to me
is that these get around 12 MPG at 8 knots with a 40 HP diesle.

No not a center consel, just a open cockpit so you have someplace to fish and relax in the sun, they are set up like a centercockpit sail boat, the aft cabin is just in the way and isnt needed for just 2 people.
