Re: This may be the dumbest question you've ever read on this board-"89 J60 TLCE

Update to old post. I finally got to run it out on a lake at WOT. The little river up the road from the house, more of a small stream really, is not big enough to open it up and run it. It ran like a scalded cat. 5100 rpm, solid, consistent, smooth. According to an OEM pitot type speedo, however inaccurate, she was doing about 35mph. Up and down the lake, a grin from ear to ear. The boat is small and light enough, a 15' tri-hull, that it pops up on plane from a dead stop in under 3 seconds, when given full throttle with a stainless, cupped prop of unknown pitch. I was real hesitant to pull the carbs and open them up, as my posts indicate. It wasn't complicated, went well, cost nothing but a can of gumout spray, and absolutely radically changed the way this motor runs. Many thanks to all who contributed, especially Joe Reeves. Thanks again. Along with life jackets and a whistle, this forum and an owners manual ought to be a pre-requisite to owning a small boat. Fair winds and following seas to all. Kevin
