Thor sn#RF34 ED1, 1 cyl info

I just received an outboard fount in my mothers shed. On the top of the engine it says Thor, Cedarburg MFNG CO. I looked online and all of the Thors I see have a curved gas tank. This has a red cylinder gas tank. Where they ever made with this tank and what year is this Motor? Is it very valuable or should I keep deafening the fish and get dirty looks from fellow boaters (or vice versa)when I use this thing?

Thor was accidently taken over by Mercury before they were Mercury.
They wanted the building to build industrial equipment.They solved the Thors carb problem
and sold a lot of these motors to raise money. Eventually designing there own.If yours is dependable it is likely one of those modified by the Merc people.Seems I remember something about the red cylinder tank though the 39 models had a teardrop tank.

I found the serial number it is 1987. Would you know how I can find what year this was made?
