Thank you guys for the advice. All things went South today. After driving 2 hours to the bank, I signed the papers and got the check and thinking I'm off to his guys house and taking home my first financed boat which I had worked for years to be in this position to buy a newer nice boat. I got to his house and he had all of the records for the last three years, all of the manuals, and even the original sales contract. Now, all of the maintenance records were from the dealer and for winterizing and simple items. I asked if it went to the dealer this year for winterization and he stated "No I did it, I looked on the internet and found how to do it". At this point, my stomach sank. I asked him how he did it and he said he sprayed fogging oil (CAT ENGINE) in the cylinders and poured antifreeze into the outdrive with the rabbit ears. Now, my stomach sank even further. I asked if he drained the engine and he looked at me with a funny look. I would say my stomach sank further, but I was already at rock bottom. I think you guys know where I'm going with this story. I pulled the plugs and unscrewed the blue handle and about 5 gallons came out of the engine with zero antifreeze. He started the engine and the engine and the temp would not move, of course, I pretty much already know why. Sure enough, the bilge kicked on pumping water overboard and when I looked at the engine bay water was leaking into it. As we were in the boat, water was leaking from the right side (port) under the exhaust riser. I could not tell where from but I am not aware of anything under there besides the block. This guy really did not seem to know what that meant and here I am left to tell this guy I think his block is cracked and the engine is shot. The owner felt really bad and apologized for my long drive and said he will take it right to the dealer to get fixed. I do not think he knows how much this will cost. Besides this issue of the engine, there is the fogging on a cat engine, and the owner went to start the boat with the outdrive in the trailer position, all the way up. I advised him that doing so will trash the u-joints and he said he did not know that and already started the boat in that position yesterday and let it run for about 30 seconds. The boat is gorgeous and in near mint condition; there is a small 2 inch scratch on the starboard side in the black paint. Everything on this boat is saying run, what do you guys think?
