Thoughts on '89 Chaparral 2100SX

Guys,

I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a '89 chaparral 2100sx. It has a Volvo Penta AQ231A (305 V8) 230HP w/Volvo Penta Duo Prop outdrive. Not to sure about this combo...I know it has a duo prop but thats not a lot of power for a 21ft boat. Plus I like to slalom, and I am 6'5" 210. Would love input on this.

Other than my concerns with the power, everything else looks good and clean. No soft spots or rot, interior looks great and the trailer is good.

I would love to hear some feedback on this boat and what you would pay for it.

It would be a lot better performing boat with a 5.7 but the 5.0 should be fine. The main issue I see is with your salmon skiing. If there are not many folks that go with you then probably not an issue. If the boat is loaded then getting up will be the issue. Could always go for a prop set with less pitch but then you can over rev, So if your doing mainly skiing and can handle dragging keep current setup, otherwise another boat or lower pitch props.

I agree with you on the 5.7L. I wish it had that. Maybe I will just buy it and drop a crate motor in it! haha :lol::lol::lol:
