What type of thread sealant should be used on the oil presure sending units and the water/coolant fittings on the manifolds/risers?

Also......any tips on removing my fittings from the old risers?

Re: Thread Sealant

Tony, Since these fittings are NPT and tapered, they usually don't require anything to prevent leaks. I recommend some anti-seize compound, so they will not corrode.

As for getting the old ones off. If they are brass, they should be removable with a box wrench or at worst, a pipe wrench. it is a good thing they do not cost too much to replace.

Re: Thread Sealant

I use a threadsealer with teflon paste. It is available from Permatex, it is white in color. Pipe threads will leak that is why you use a thread sealer paste, or some people use the teflon tape, but I do not like that stuff, paste is much better. The pressures you are working with are very low, so you would probably be OK without it, but I would still use it. Especially on your fuel fittings, if you have any. Don't use too much, you only need a little.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Use the teflon sealant or Permatex #2 also works.

Just a note here, pipe threads don't leak normally, if they are cut right!
but I like Permatex white teflon liquid myself.
