Getting ready to do a pressure test on my Alpha one gen 2 outdrive and had forgot my gear oil and pump in my buddies truck who will be out of town for a week. I was going to go to a hardware store and pickup a 1/4 male barb that would thread into the drain/fill hole. Does anyone happen to know the thread size? Thanks!

I think its 3/8 x 16 NC but you could buy the oil fill kit, it comes with the correct fitting

Ayuh,.... Like BD says, it's 3/8"-16, 'n yer ain't gonna find anything like it in a hardware store, other than a 3/8" bolt,.....
The 1s I've got were all stolen from old broken pump bottles for oil,... Dumpster divin' at it's Finest,.....

Aren't the threads 'square' not 'saw tooth', like a regular fastener. Tough to find at a hardware store . . .

Not sure if the exact pitch of the threads but 3/8-16 works fine. Built my pressure tester by using a 3/8-16 bolt and drilled through the center. Put a double o-ring on it then the rubber hose, holds and works okey dokey

That's what I did, too. I couldn't find any barbed fittings with the right thread count. I was surprised how easy it was to center drill the bolt. I thought the bit would wander, but it tracked right down the middle. (Don't use a hardened steel bolt, though. Tried that with less-than-spectacular results....)
