First of all Hello to everybody. New to this site, and a new boater. The other nite i stubbled accross a questions similar to the one i have about my boat, and i read the answers that were posted but now i cant find them. The problem im having is my boat starts fine, I let it warm up, and then when I put it in forward or in gear it stalls. So I started up again(first turn) no problem put it in reverse still or but if i put it in forward it stalls whether I slowly push it forward or gun it still stalls. I read that it might b the lower throutel cable. your opinon please. ps for give my spelling

Re: throtel cable

A tad bit more info would be really helpful. Make and type of motor, year, etc. :D

Re: throtel cable

Sorry, it is a 1992 Capri w/4.3L V6 merCruiser Thunderbolt IV ignition. Is this enough or I'm I missing something? also is there suppose to b a fuel filter somewhere in here, and does this model have a fuel/water seperator?

Re: throtel cable

You should have one in line scavenging filter. Very questionable about the water - separator. If you do have a water - separating filter it would probably be mounted on your transom and be the approx. size of an oil filter.
It should look similar to this : http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=520319&kwtid=300530
Now your stalling issue could be related to a number of things. When was the last time a complete tune up was done? How fresh is your fuel? Are those filter's clean and installed properly? Look for the arrows.
If all of those prove to be O.K. then you can take a look at your timing. etc.
( part of the tune up deal ) . There could be other things to look at but just start with the very basic stuff. :D

Re: throtel cable

I have replaced spark plugs, cap & roter, wires, and gas. like I said before It does start on the first try, it idles good, i can put it in reverse and revit up in reverse and it does good. But as soon as I try to put it in forward weither gradually or guning it, it will stall. Could a bad cable be the reason or a switch. Any suggestions?
