When I last had the cowl off, I noticed that there was a lot of play in the cam follower roller, which rides along the semi-circular cutout on the throttle lever and is what advances the spark control lever. Just seemed like a lot of play, so as I advance the throttle on the remote nothing happens instantly and I get the aforementioned play. I verified this by whatching what happens when I advance the throttle on the remote while watching the mechanism on the motor.
I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what could be worn out, if anything? The roller is an off-white plastic roller and it physically looks ok, but after 21 yrs of operation I'm wondering if it's shrunk or maybe just wore a bit.
Motor is a 1990 Johnson GT100 Model J100STLESB. I found the diagram and part ID on shop.evinrude.com.
Thanks a bunch for any thoughts. Oh, and otherise the motor works fine, just needs a little more throttle action to get a reponse, both ways-- increasing and decreasing.
