throttle adj on a 1969 115 jonny

hi everyone long time no post,what is the best way to adjust the throotle,i have the push button shifter,i have the good manuel that shows how to alingn the cam ,but i was wondering if the turn adjuster itself has a special setting or do you do it by ear?also,what about at the shift control itself?do i do any adjustment there?any help would be great thanks............
