My boat has the 2001 50hp Mercury, 4 stroke.
I noticed when engine as off that when handle is pushed to WOT, it is really only rotating the butterfly's on carbs to 3/4 throttle.
And when pushed from Nutrual to drive,, there is gap to the carb "Arm" to give some push to the lever on carb. In other words the gap from drive engaugement to touching carb. is the exact gap that is whats missing for WOT on carbs & handle.
So i figured i'd just simpily turn the sheithing on cable at the motor to take out that gap at drive position,,(cause i gotta push the throttle 1/4 to first get any rpms to motor)..
Well when i went to turn the sheithing it springs back and rotates back to the original spot..... So i used i pliers and wrench on the sheithing,, so i rotated one turn held, tried more then it just spins back. There's no lock nut or nothin. ?
Do i just keep spining, and hope the sheithing takes the rotation ?
