Re: throttle cable adjustment
The engine will stay in forward until 12V's is applied to the shift solenoids and the engine is running. This is built into the system in case you lose 12V's to the shift solenoids or the solenoids fail....the lower unit will stay in forward so you can get home.

Throttle cable...leave the control in neutral. Make sure the throttle lever on the engine is fully retarded....usually the connection stub on the lever will be all the way forward. Attach the throttle cable casing guide to the throttle lever. Adjust the cables trunnion nut to fit the trunnion anchor slot using just a little pulling tension on the cable to remove the slack. Install the cable retainer over the anchor slot.

How much longer is the new cable? It should come directly back to the engine and make a two to three foot loop into the engine. This is to allow the cable to move freely with the engine with out kinking the cable.
