throttle cable

I have a 1987 Larson Dc 190 cuddy boat which uses the infamous 3.7 mercruiser engine. Which throttle cable will I need to purchase to replace it? What im experiencing is when I cycle through the throttle lever, I am experiencing certain points that when the lever is moving forward there seems to be no response by the cable. It just seems as though I should be getting higher RPM's. I can get the throttle to go to W.O.T. and eem to only get to 17 M.P.H. Help...

Have you checked the operation of the cable from both ends,..??
