Throttle Cables interchangeable?

I searched for quite some time and did not see the answer.

The throttle cables I have for my 1989 Force are way to long for the boat I now have it on. I have another throttle that is the right size but it uses what you will many times see on a Johnson/Evin. The end is the same and hooks to the little ball joints, but the adjustment screw is the big perforated plastic wheel thing-ma-bob.

Interchangeable?

No! They will not interchange. Too short control cables will not function properly but too long ones pose no problems. Simply make a big loop in the splashwell or under the gunwales.
