Throttle control neutral button jammed

1997 Harris pontoon with 3.0 L Volvo Penta SX Cobra drive.
This weekend my neutral button on the Throttle control jammed in neutral. Had to get towed back to dock. Forgot the toolkit.
Question is Is this fixable with parts or do I need to replace the throttle control.
Mine is similar to this one.

Ayuh,.... I'd start by lubin' it up, 'n see if it'll work,.....

If that don't work, take it apart, 'n see what broke,....

Hello again, I finally am able to look at the throttle. We have been deluged with rain.
button popped back up. Not sure how to disassemble any farther.
what kind of lube for the button?

Well, I replaced the throttle control. Could not see how to take apart to look at the neutral spring. Will have to lube the throttle and shift cables this fall.
