Throttle Control

I need to purchase a throttle control for our boat to replace the one in the picture. Is it really hard to replace this?

I think you have already done most of the work. You can get them at the local store. Sometimes they will have used ones, if price is an object.

You have to make sure you don't mix up which control cables is which, (throttle vs shifter). You will break something if you get them swapped.

Thanks. So I can take it off and go to a local store to buy a new one? I want a much more modern one.

they are pretty universal. Bring the unit and they can help you find a replacement.

One thing I had to end up doing was to cut the one wire with 5 wires in it off of the throttle control. I cut it fairly close to the throttle control. I was able to take the other three cables off with no problems.

They would likely be your tilt/trailer setup and maybe a Neutral switch. should be relatively easy to re-wire if needed.
