Hi
On my throttle control which I have no idea of what year they are......they are cable controls and it is 2 levers.......there are two knobs that I am not sure what they do......one in the front says Idle stop......and the other says something friction.....I cannot make out the first word as it is worn down.......but the second word is friction.

Not sure what these knobs do......the control does seem to be rather old and very well could be the one that originally came with the motor 50 years ago.

The controls do work but just wondering what these knobs are supposed to do.

Thanks

Idle stop lets you set how low the idle goes by setting how far back you can pull the lever, for idle. Friction sets the amount of friction on the levers, as you move them. Lube them before you try to turn the knobs, they are plastic and get brittle with age.

Ok that makes sense......Oh the knobs turn no problem its just there is no difference in the levers moving when these knobs are all the way in or all the way out.......could it be something broken inside the controls?

The idle stop only limits how far you can pull the handle back. It has no effect on the rest of the range.

The friction pad or spring may be missing.
