Can anyone tell me where the friction adjustment is for the throttle on a 1990 Johnson 120 hp. I have looked at the throttle handle and don't see one there. The rpm's increase and decrease at different throttle settings.

I know on some of the earlier side mount OMC controls the lever tensioner adjuster was just under the key switch. On later OMC binacle mount controls the tensioner is under a removable cap just beside the shift dis-engage button. You need to have control lever shifted forward or reverse to access.Upper screw is for lever tension and lower screw is for shift detent tension.Clockwise on both increase tension.

Which controls do you have?

I have the binnacle control. The shift lever is pulled out to the left to put it into neutral. There is no dis-engage button. The shift lever has a plastic side cap that I removed but I only saw a Nut that fastened the lever to the binnacle. Is it possible that an adjustment is made at the engine end of the throttle cable?
