Hi all, this is my first post on here so i hope this site can help. I am trying to figure out how to "break" apart the front side of the shifter handle from the rear section as i need to adjust the angle that the cables come up into the shifter. i have removed all the bolts that hold the two pieces together but am not sure if there are any under the cover were the trim button and lock lever. this controler is for a 1996 merc 115 hp. If any one knows how to add a picture i will send one so you all know what i am trying to say. Thanks

Re: Throttle handle breakdown

To post a picture ,go to a web site like photobucket .com. This is free. download your picture there and copy the address for the picture. Paste the address in reply box after clicking image button.
the control should come apart by removing the screwws from the back of the control. My Mercury control has a back panel that comes off seperately for access to the cables. The older controls, you have to remove the entire back panel.

Re: Throttle handle breakdown

Thanks Rick, I have taken the three bolts out that held the 2 parts together, but still wont come apart. I have taken the back panel off already and removed the cables.I am trying to pivot the back section rear ward so that the cables come away at an angle, not staraight down as they were. This was causing cable binding and made it hard for my wife to drive.
