Throttle Help?

Finally took the Cheetah out on the water for the first time today, and ran into an issue...
the button for "throttle only" somehow in loading the boat in prep before launch is missing, making her quite difficult to start... it's a 1982 Mercruiser 485 (185HP) Being carbed, having the ability to pump gas and manipualte throttle is very important, made it a pain in the *** to get started not having a throttle only capability. I tried pushing in on the little metal pin that is behind where the button goes, but it never wanted to go into throttle only mode. All the different ones i'm seeing look nothing like mine, and i know that it's a quicksilver commander, with the tilt and trailer button on the handle, shift and throttle all controlled by one lever. in a 1982 boat. What woudl you guys recommend for replacement that will be simple? and durable? I'd like to fix the original if possible but i don't know where to even order the buttons, and am not seeing them anywhere online.

What sidemount throttles do you guys use? Pros and Cons? Throttles you dream about? Need to make a decision, and would like some input!

Re: Throttle Help?

Do an online search for boat salvage, there are lots of places that junk boats, might be able to find a button.
