NEVER HAD A BOAT OR ENGINE BEFORE, I AM TRYING TO PUT ONE TOGETHER. I HAVE WHAT I BELEIVE to be A 1984 YAMAHA 70BETO engine. I have a Model703 Yamaha control box. I ran the cables to the engine and figured the shift cable with no problem. My problem is the throttle cable, when throttling up the cable pushes to the rear or to the propellar of the engine. What doesn't make sense to me is the pin that it connects to seems that it should go to the front of the engine to throttle up. Which is the exact opposite of the cable movement. OK so leave the cable off and stsrt the engine and manually throttle up. The engine won't start and I 'm afraid I am trying to start at full throttle. Or is it the connection is to slide the pin forward make the connection and start the engine, but the sring of the carbs would be telling me the force of the spring is going with throttlling up instead of the spring force throttling down, back to idle
