Hello, all

I have 1964 Evinrued 28hp 2cycle, does not open throttle plate at 90 degree at wot, have good spark, compression rebuilt Carb.

Last thing I did adjusted Lync and sync tried it out still the same.

I suspected flaot adjustment. would that case that if i did not adjusted it right?

What would be the next thing i should try? please help, I am lost.

Thank you.

If the Lync and sync was done correctly then the throttle isn't operating to its full extent, try moving the linkage by hand to see if its hanging up once you open it up to WOT.

Is it twist grip or binacle?
Tension on the twist grip could make it hard to open up,
or control cables might have slop in them.

Re: Throttle plate does not open @ 90 degree wot?

when the engine is off or not running, I grabed a linkage by carburetor. It opens all the way. if I push the throttle control handle it does not open at 90 degree, about 35 degree. the marker goes pass start mark only.

what should I check next? Thank you reply...

Could my control cable be bad? more advice please thank you.

There's a good chance your throttle control isn't shifting gears

yeh that too.
Disconnect the cables at the engine and see if the binacle/cables operate thru their range, see if the shifter on the engine works when you spin the prop by hand in neutral ( err...sparkyplugs disconnected.):)

something is wrong in that area, binacles can get jammed if the cable isn't installed right. I had to take mine apart and re-do it.

It is not uncommon for somebody to "fix" a broken cable by re-attaching the end. That doesn't get it. You have to replace a broken cable.

--OR--The setscrews holding the cable end(s) may have slipped on the wire. Properly tightened, they will "kink" the wire to prevent slipping.

Re: Throttle plate does not open @ 90 degree wot?

Thank you allfor the ideas. What I did is to re-route a cable, double check on lync and sync, put it in gear while the engine is off.

It works, wot it is at 90 degree and fullyclosed at idle. Now all I have to do test it in water next.

It shifts in gear just fine. Thank you all very mch.
