Guys,
I have all the parts in throttle cleaned and lightly triple guard greased. See attached diagram item numbers 76 and 82. throttle.jpg These seem loose side to side after installing the washer and lock nut. Is this last washer supposed to fit up over the shoulder? I would think this assembly would be kinda tight. It is easy to rotate and no play axially (up/down). It is just if you twist the arm it has play.
Thanks,
Ed

Two round, plastic bushings take up the slack in that assembly-items 84 and 86. I don't use triple guard grease in that application. It will get really stiff in cold weather. A a white lithium grease is a better grease-it is a lot more slippery in all temps.

I have all of the bushings shown in the diagram with the flanges in the same direction as the diagram. Again is the last washer supposed to fit over the shoulder before lock nut? I thought OMC manual said to use triple guard?

Yes the washer first, then the locknut. It is not a problem to use triple guard in that application. A matter of personal preference.

Thanks but I am trying to figure out why it is wobbly. If the ID of the washer is larger than the OD of the shoulder on the stud then this might explain looseness as the washer I am trying to use is smaller and when you tighten up the locknut this washer bottoms out against the shoulder on the stud. If it went over the stud the face of the washer would be next to the face of the last installed bushing.

How tight should assembly be if not worn?

You want as little friction between these components as possible. If you manually move the mechanism, you don't want it to feel like any part is binding against another.

It pivots fine with no play in/out or up/down. If you try to rock it side to side that is where the play is. It is like a bushing is missing or washer but everything is in place with flanges on bushings facing the shown direction in diagram.

Do you have washer items 13 and 87 in place?

I have the back washer 3 and nylon washer 87 in place and the front washer 103 in place. I do not see a 13 washer. If the 103 washer ID fits over the shoulder to touch the last bushing flange then my washer is wrong. It is possible that 87 is worn.
