Re: throttle question
Tell us the whole story! Did this just happen? did you just acquire the boat? Did you just put this motor on the boat? Are the controls right for the motor? Do you have the cables reversed at the engine? Remove both cables at the engine. Put throttle lever in neutral. Make sure engine is in neutral. Move the throttle lever forward slightly while watching the end of the cables. The first one to move is the shifter, not the throttle. Put the lever back to neutral. Hold the end of the cable up to the linkage on the engine. If the cable end does not line up, adjust the trunion (barrel on the cable) until it does. Attach the cable and then repeat the process for the other cable. If you have to move the engine linkage to connect the cables you don't have the cables adjusted properly. With everything in neutral, they should line up with their attachment points. If you have incompatibility between the shifter and engine(Merc for example on a Johnson engine) the throw of the lever may not be correct and you can't adjust for that.
