Mercruiser 4.3 L V6
Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive

My shifting in both foward and reverse is very stiff. If I detach the cable from the engine it shifts very smooth so it doesn't look like it's the cable. If I just hook up the two throttle cables it's a little stiffer but not as bad as having all the cable hooked up.If it's the shift cable is there a way to lube it without removing the outdrive

Re: Throttle Shifting

There are 2 cables for shifting, one from the shifter to the engine and one from the engine to the drive. which one did you disconnect?
2 throttle cables? How many helm stations do you have, what kind of shifter?

Re: Throttle Shifting

I think most likely my issue is going to be the cable running from the linkage to the outdrive. I've disconnected all three cable from the engine and the Mercury MPC 4000 remote moves smoothly. Can I replaced the cable without removing the outdive?
